Fair-use limits

Each account may keep 50 active projects and 1 GB of assets and kept renders. Unclaimed chat subjects may keep 10 projects and 200 MB; unclaimed projects expire after 30 days. Each project allows 2 MB of source, 20 assets at 25 MB each and 100 MB total. We keep the last 20 versions, 50 cached frames and 3 renders; older media is deleted. Frames expire after 14 days. Renders are limited to 180 seconds, 1080p (including portrait), and 30 fps. Accounts may request 10 renders per UTC day; unclaimed subjects 3, with one in-flight render each. Each actor may request 60 snapshots and 30 asset imports per UTC hour. Failed attempts and cached snapshots count. Size units use 1024-based MB/GB. Delete old projects, reduce your request, or wait for the stated reset. Higher limits coming with paid plans. Rendering and snapshots may be temporarily unavailable. Download important exports before they are pruned.

Contact Pro Stack Labs

Email support.shotcut@prostacklabs.com for product help, security reports, privacy requests, or account deletion. Include the affected project ID, the steps you took, and an approximate time. Do not send passwords, OAuth tokens, or claim links. We do not publish a guaranteed response time.

Connect from ChatGPT or Claude

Use the MCP server URL https://shotcut.ai/mcp in your platform’s connector settings where custom connectors are available. Availability depends on your platform, plan, and organization settings. This page does not imply that Shotcut is listed in either public directory. Private project tools require Clerk OAuth sign-in; approve only the Shotcut connection you initiated. Guides and template listings are public. Unsigned host subjects do not authenticate a caller, so anonymous creation and access are closed.

Create and preview

Try “Create a five-second product intro using the product-intro template and show its preview.” Or ask for a quote card or animated statistic. Shotcut provides editable HyperFrames compositions and template-based starters. The chat assistant can update source, validate it, inspect individual frames, and show a preview. Inline widgets provide viewing and playback; expand the widget for editing controls.

Edit, render, and download

Choose Edit / Download on a chat preview and sign in to its owning account. For an existing unclaimed project, use its secret one-time claim link to sign in and claim it. Edit text, timing, and layers on the website or ask the chat assistant to revise the project using its link. Ask Shotcut to render the project as an MP4, wait for completion, and download from the website as the project owner. Rendering is performed by Shotcut’s hosted pipeline, not by a media-generation AI model.

Troubleshooting

If a preview fails, reload the project and check that the imported media URL is reachable and permitted. If account listing fails, reconnect Shotcut in your platform and sign in to the intended account. If a render fails, check the composition with the validation tool, retry after fixing the reported error, or contact support with the render ID. An account can download only its own projects. A used claim link cannot transfer an already-owned project.

Privacy and deletion

Review /privacy for data handling and /terms for service terms. Disconnecting in ChatGPT or Claude does not erase Shotcut projects. Projects and render links are private; a URL alone gives no access. Unclaimed projects expire after 30 days and are erased by daily cleanup. Dashboard deletion permanently removes project source and media. For permanent deletion, sign in at /account, type DELETE, and choose Permanently delete my data. Active render outputs are erased after completion. Contact support to close your remaining sign-in account or discuss provider backups.
